God's Messengers

A documentary about the Israeli settlers' Hilltop Youth

HistoryPoliticsWar And Conflict

A powerful, first-time inside look at the daily lives of the Jewish settlers inhabiting Havat Gilad - a frontline outpost in the West Bank.

To understand their world, one must understand the phenomenon of the "Hilltop Youth" (Noar HaGvaot) and the "outpost movement," which began in the late 1990s. Unlike veteran, government-sanctioned settlements, these outposts are often established without official state permits, placing them in a permanent legal and political grey zone.

As international diplomatic pressure mounts, and as both the Israeli government and the mainstream, veteran settler establishment distance themselves from these unauthorized communities, this group becomes more ideologically entrenched. Where critics see an obstacle to peace and international law, these activists see themselves as the ultimate guardians of Jewish history and the vital link to a Biblical homeland.

Driven by a mix of religious devotion and raw Zionist fervor, their mission is one of proactive initiative. Navigating a volatile reality marked by frequent, friction-filled clashes with local Palestinians and evictions by Israeli security forces, this group remains more determined than ever to claim, "redeem," and hold onto the land.
